EXT. DRIVEWAY – DAY
SAM’S MOTHER (40s) pulls her car into the driveway. Her mascara is smudged from crying. She is dressed in cheap business attire.
She waits for a moment before grabbing her purse and keys.
She exits the car and slowly walks to the front of the house.
INT. SAM’S BEDROOM – DAY
Sam is in a panic and frantically begins to get dressed.
He throws some things into a backpack and bolts out of his room.
INT. FAMILY ROOM – DAY He attempts to escape thru the back door of the house just as his mother enters from the front.
They lock eyes. Sam drops his gaze to his feet.
In a breaking voice Sam’s mother quietly speaks…
