Pink Lady Rug/Photos of D.

After a friend of my mother’s discovered that I was a recent graduate of a photography program, she became interested in the idea of having me take some “boudoir” pictures of her. She wanted to give them to her boyfriend at the time. I had already expressed my interest in working on a project with her. So after months of talking about it, I finally brought my 110 camera and a bunch of cartridges of film to her mobile home just outside of Manchester, Pennsylvania. With my mom waiting in the other room, we worked on producing several dozen images. As the shoot progressed, she got more comfortable–to the point that she was willing to let her prized fur slip a little further off her shoulders. Below is a selection of some of the best images from the shoot, which I assembled into an album for her and her boyfriend. I also used them as inspiration for the latch-hook rug diptych above.
